  • Payne was another scrapped character as he didn’t fit in with the progressing story.
  • His hair design was inspired by the character, Shuu Tsukiyama from Tokyo Ghoul. After his first character appearance in the manga.
  • His hair colour was inspired by the periwinkle flower only with a higher contrast.
  • His nickname, Periwinkle, does refer to his hair colour.

  • Apart from his wrist piercings, Payne also has a single stud on his left ear, around the same area as Devan’s. Which is also made from blue amber.
  • Payne’s feminine appearance and block eye brows were inspired by the make-up fashion at the time. To draw on thick, square eye brows that made women look a little more masculine than feminine.
  • Payne and Emma were once originally married, but this was scrapped after poor character development.
  • The gesture with Payne’s hands locking his figures together before forming the smiling ball in chapter 1 was inspired by the triple spiral Celtic symbol. Which is a point of three things or three worlds.
